I'm no film buff but there are plenty of great movies worth seeing to educate and inspire you towards a better world. Here are my top 15 in no particular order - be sure to add your comments and any movies I have missed below:

1. McLibel
Two amazing and ordinary people bring McDonald's to its knees.

2. Erin Brokovitch
Another true story of one courageous woman fighting against the economic amorality.

3. The Insider
Yet another true account of how one man's morals shone through despite the cost.

4. Soylent Green
Charlton Heston stars in this superb rage against the machine. Yes, that's right, Charlton 'from my cold dead hands' Heston!

5. The Corporation
The definitive answer to why we are in the mess we are in? A great historical look at, and analysis of, the nature of business today.

6. Syriana
The oil industry laid bare for all to see.

7. Roger & Me
A Mike Moore classic tale of one mans chase to hold the man at the top to account for his actions. Ish.

8. Supersize Me
Morgan Spurlock lays out his case as to why McDonalds is not good for you.

9. Constant Gardener
A political thriller focused on the drug development business.

10. Who killed the electric car?
Expose behind why we do not drive more electric vehicles.

11. Thank you for Smoking
A great look at the smoking industry and the lobbying world in general.

12. Age Of Stupid
A brilliant new retrospective docudrama from the future about how we messed up on climate change. Question is: Are we stupid enough to let this be our future? Are you Stupid?

13. The 11th Hour
Leonardo Di Caprio's opus on the state of our planet.

14. Fast Food Nation
Watch this and if you can still eat fast food you are a braver man than I.

15. An Inconvenient Truth
Al Gore's contribution to the climate change debate.

Have I missed any out? What do you think? Let me know...

I loved 'King Corn' - engaging documentary about two guys backtracking through govt. corn policy/giant agri to figure out how corn became so ubiquitous (and stopped being food) - http://bit.ly/d1EWp is Sierra Club review and trailer.

yes.. the Mr Black is back - I love your list, Tepsy... The only green movie I think you missed is The Hulk...

Me and my mate Willy (sounds ominous) watched "The Corporation" about 5 years ago and it changed our lives!!!

August Rush has nothing to do with 'the environment' or 'green' but it speaks of love, hope and faith; which I believe are vital roots on which to build a greener foundation :)

I've seen many of these (though not Age of Stupid or The Inconvenient Truth...YET). I believe there is one coming out later this year called (I think) The End of the Line (about overfishing).

I do think that films can be a strong method of getting a true message across!

I have seen the preview for August Rush Rachelle and it does look good, a worthy addition I'm sure.

What dreams may come is another similar film you may like, slightly darker and more intense but a wonderful exploration of love.

I agree Maddy, the power films have seems unbeatable by any other form of media to me really. Thanks for the movie tip.

What about "I Heart Huckabees"? The main protagonist is an environmental campaigner and involves plenty of hilarious rants about the use of oil and the industry.
Funny and green? Doesn't happen often in films!

What are tags? Tags are essentially categories and are the key words that people use to describe their listings or articles. Any word can be used as a tag except for ones that are naughty and would probably not be repeatable in polite company.
