Never throw away empty shampoo or washing up liquid bottles. Once your finished with one and you are just about to open a new one, empty half of it contents into the old bottle and dilute with water. It goes twice as far and you really cant tell the difference. If you find you have to many spare bottle use them for other purposes; my three young sons love to play with empty bottles in the bath. Also if you cut them in half and make a hole in the bottom they are great for planting up with, my sons like to make cress in ours! Its especially nice if you have a very transparent one, as you can see the roots, which my boys also love,as it gives them a better understanding.

Great tips, Annahelm; we do this with washing up liquid too - the Ecover brand is so thick, that a half dilution of water still works well.

What do you do with your bottles once you really have too many to reuse?

Really useful ideas, Annaheim and Rachelle. Few people realise that you don't need cleaning and bodycare substances to be very concentrated for them to still work effectively!

Hi, thanks for the coms, we also donate bottles to our local playgroup as the children love to make models with them and the ecover ones get refilled - theres always a second use or more for bottles :)

The ecover refill scheme is ace - we use that too, at our local farm shop.

When you tink that you can't get any more toothpaste out of a tube, cut it open flat. You'd be surprised how much stuff is left inside. Do this also with tubes of tomato puree, the inside is a lovely gold colour - great for craft uses eg cards.

Keep the tops from juice bottles etc - the more colours the better. They are great for making mosiacs on a grand scale, for display outside especially

What are tags? Tags are essentially categories and are the key words that people use to describe their listings or articles. Any word can be used as a tag except for ones that are naughty and would probably not be repeatable in polite company.
