Apples are in season in the UK from August all the way through to the end of March (depending on the variety).
This snack is a firm favourite in our house, especially on the days when we’re in a hurry, the cupboards are a little bare, and I really don’t have time to go shopping! All you need is bread, cheese and apples, after all!
Ingredients: (Serves 2)
2 slices of bread;
Enough slices of the cheese of your choice to cover two pieces of bread; 1 apple, washed, dried and sliced;
Method:
• Toast both slices of bread in the toaster
• While you’re waiting for the bread, slice your apple and the cheese
• Place the cheese slices on the bread first, then arrange the apple slices on top
• Place under the grill until the cheese is melted and starting to brown
• Devour in seconds (mind – the cheese is hot!)
Cupboard-To-Table: 7-10 minutes
Notes and Variations:
Try sprinkling the apples with sugar and / or cinnamon before grilling
